Audience Effects Theory

1) Write a definition of a passive audience: 

Passive:This is the view that audiences take in information from the media that has the same effect on everyone.

2) Write a definition of an active audience:

Active:This is the more modern and generally accepted view that audience interact with the media they consume.

3) Write a definition of the hypodermic needle theory: 

This is the suggestion that audiences are always passive and therefore take the intended message from the producer as if it was injected into their minds. This assumes no individual difference in audience members. 

4) Write down a media product for each category of Blumler and Katz's Uses and Gratifications theory and WHY it fits that particular audience use/gratification:

it fits that because because it tells us not to be on the computers or phones to much because then you will then be broken apart from the real life instead of this virtual life.

it fits this because people could relate to this clip and say that this happened to me and that i found this kind of thing or that and that's why it fits in identity.

 DIVERSION/ENTERTAINMENT: Blue Planet II
it takes us away and shows us new information and tells us new information about the earth that we never new about because some of us spend to much time on the screens almost all day.

 RELATIONSHIPS:Blue Planet II
us audience care a lot about the earth so we do the same by helping the environment and help it so its secure and it doesn't break or some other stuff happen to it because then we wont be able to live here anymore.

 5) Re-watch the clip from Blue Planet above and write a paragraph analysing how elements of the clip offer the audience pleasures or gratifications (use media terminology from Uses and Gratifications theory and the 3 Vs - notes outlined above).

 It gives the visceral pleasure this is because of the music and also the seen or the view also because when they show the water slowly moving it calms everything down.The nature of the animals are so quite and amazing because some of us haven't seen the nature much so this might amaze the people and show them amazing stuff.
