Representation: Kidulthood film poster analysis

1) List the people, places and groups represented in the poster. E.g. men, women, teenagers etc.

It shows group of teenagers (in there late teens possible) with some girls but mostly boys  one of the teens seems to be holding a baseball bat which would possibly be used as a weapon and from the background they look like to be on a roof of a house because of the kind of metal railing on which they are sitting on and the an antenna which is usually placed on-top of houses.

2) Are there any stereotypes you can identify?

There possible on restricted area, from the clothing that they are wearing they seem to be wearing lots of clothing like jackets, jeans, tracksuits and hoodies.

3) What is the preferred reading of this poster?

The preferred reading for this poster would be that this group of children are looking like gang members who probable cause lots of trouble and fights as one of them has a baseball bat which is a weapon from the poster, the roof area is usually not to be on and they probably might be doing stuff on.

4) What is the oppositional reading of this poster?

The oppositional reading of this poster would be that they are just harmless teens who have been forced to do stuff by others and were probably forced by many people which made them choose this path to follow of crime and being in a gang, they do these things in order to feel safe and defend themselves and they might need each other in order to survive the street otherwise they would not be alive and together
