Nowadays most of us listen to music through our phones, and can simply download songs over the internet. We can download as many as we like and even use software to live stream songs without having to download them at all. It's been ten years since it became possible to download a song over the internet. But that's not always been possible. Here we look at how devices used to listen to music have changed over time.

Start Date: June 30, 2015
Listen Online - via iTunes on macOS, Windows - via Apple Music app on iOS, tvOS, watchOS and Android.

Beats 1 is Apple's own radio station using the Beats brand. It's a single radio station within Apple Music, and isn't an entire radio service like Apple Music Radio is. It also doesn't have on-demand listening or skips; rather, it's more of a traditional live radio broadcast.

4) Why was Apple so keen to enter the online music world and compete with Spotify, Deezer and Amazon Music (and others)?

Apple were keen to enter the music world as since it is a large and well-known brand, a lot of people are likely to migrate to it.Furthermore, through apple beats 1 radio, they could market apple music during ad breaks and gain more control of the music market as they would have another huge branch of people who use it.

Apple chose 3 DJ's from varying area's of the music communities to appeal to many niche audiences. They picked Zane Lowe as he already had a large viewership at radio 1.Next,they chose Ebro Darden who is in touch with the underground music community in New York which is important to Apple as the radio station is global. Lastly,  apple chose Julie Adenuga who is an expert on grime music in the UK to appeal to grime listeners.
