Denotation and Connotation: Advert analyses (WaterAid)

                     Denotation & Connotation

DENOTATION
The denotations for this media advert are that there is a boy who has a frown on his face and hes wearing a blue shirt, also he seems to be near a clay wall. There is a water aid logo with a water drop next to it and we can see a clay wall.

CONNOTATION
The fact of that hes not smiling implies that he needs water and his family probable cant afford water because there at a area which is dry and they were to afford water they wouldn't be living in that sandy/gravel area. The area hes in could mean that there isn't a lot of rain because if there was then it would be wet and not dry and also they don't have access to clean water and dig toilets not graves suggests that you should donate to us so then we don't have to dig graves for the dead.
